ACL Bridge Training
WHAT IS BRIDGE?
We know how difficult it can be to return from an ACL (Anterior Cruciate Ligament) injury. Some studies show upwards of 6-9 months of recovery. Our Orthopedic Surgeon endorsed Bridge program is driven to return the patient both physically and mentally to an exceptional level of participation, building significant improvements in strength and stability. We also offer programming for upper body / shoulders.
In today’s ever-changing healthcare environment, physical therapy visits are being rationed with most insurance coverage stopping around the 3-month time frame, which is far short of the 6-9 months need for an ACL to recover and to safely return to sport.
Anyone who has had a knee or other lower extremity injury can benefit from the Bridge program! While the physical therapist has done a fantastic job getting the patient conditioned over the last 3 months, the athlete is now faced with trying to build muscle and condition on their own, battling research that shows the operative leg faces a 10% risk of re-injury and up to a staggering 30% on the opposite leg.
Fortunately, research has also shown that the best way to counter these statistics is to specifically train and condition against them.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Each one-hour session is designed to focus on patient strength, agility, speed, and recovery. We will communicate with the patient’s physical therapist and/or doctor to identify any remaining areas of deficit by utilizing various multi-directional movements, strength training, plyometrics, and forward and backward running.
- Program Duration will be determined on an individualized basis after initial evaluation.
- Recommend 2-3 sessions per week
- Each session builds upon the previous with flexibility to customize for sport-specific skills.
- Cost: $39 per session
